little life rafts

staying afloat through life's rocky waters
Little Life Rafts: a digital workbook

When the things that used to keep you afloat aren't available or aren't cutting it, Little Life Rafts is designed to help you clarify, create, and cultivate what you need to navigate the rocky waters of your life.

Rocky waters: the chronic and acute challenges; the permanent and temporary struggles; the constant and intermittent hardships; the losses; the uncertainty; and the unpredictable and ever-changing circumstances of our lives

Little Life Rafts invites you to acknowledge and honor the reality of your circumstances and capacities, while encouraging creativity and action, and drawing on your innate ability to adapt to new situations.
Little Life Rafts might be for you if you are a human who:
  • is trying to navigate a pandemic...
  • is going through an extended period of struggle, loss, or uncertainty
  • is in the midst of a big life transition
  • lost access to your usual sources of joy, stress-relief, meaning-making, or connection and is struggling to replace them with new ones
  • wants to discover what most nourishes and sustains you through hard times and how to cultivate that on purpose
  • is feeling stagnant, bored, lost, uninspired, disconnected, or out of alignment and wants to infuse your life with more of the things that make life feel worthwhile

Even if the waters of your life are currently still, Little Life Rafts can help clarify what keeps you afloat, explore how you might cultivate more of what matters most, and create a solid foundation for when the waters inevitably get rocky again.

Little Life Rafts is:

  • a metaphor and a model
  • a framework to help you discover, design, and build what you need to survive and thrive through life's challenges
  • a gentle guided invitation to explore what keeps you going and how you might bring more of that into your life
  • questions and prompts to help you take inventory of:
    • what currently sustains, inspires, and nourishes you
    • what's lacking or needing reinforcement or expansion
    • what is possible: what else you might create or cultivate

Little Life Rafts was designed to help you create a plan that suits you and your life. It offers questions, not answers; a process, not a prescription.

Little Life Rafts is NOT:

  • therapy (although you may find it therapeutic)
  • a course (although you may learn something about yourself)
  • a structured plan to follow, or a list of practices to implement (although it's possible these may be born out of the process)

FAQ

Please read through the FAQs first to see if you can find answers to your questions. If not, you're welcome to email me!

What am I actually getting with my purchase?
A 64-page digital workbook that includes an overview of the Little Life Raft model, and is overflowing with self-reflection questions, prompts, templates, and worksheets all designed to gently walk you through every step of designing your Little Life Rafts plan. Extras include: two original poems, and inspirational quotes. Beautiful photos of rafts and oceans can be found on every page, visually immersing you into the world of Little Life Rafts.

How much does it cost?
Pricing for the workbook is on a sliding scale.

$50 for the top tier; $35 for the middle tier; and $20 for the bottom tier.

I always donate at least 10% of sales. Recipients are rotating. Currently, donations are being made to The Bail Project. From their website: "The Bail Project combats mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system--one person at a time. We restore the presumption of innocence, reunite families, and challenge a system that criminalizes race and poverty. We're on a mission to end cash bail and create a more just, equitable, and human pretrial system."

How does the sliding scale work?
You are invited to select the pricing tier that seems right, fair, and comfortable to you. Figuring this out might feel tricky. There are many factors to consider and different ways to interpret it. I will not ask you to provide any information about your financial situation to justify your choice.  If you'd like guidance about where to place yourself on the scale, you can check out this helpful guide. But also feel free to decide just based on what feels right to you--the price that honors the value of the work while also considering the resources you have to put toward it at this time.

How do I purchase and receive the workbook?
You can purchase the Little Life Rafts workbook here.  After you click on the item, there will be a drop-down menu with all three tiers of the sliding scale. Choose the one that feels appropriate for you. You can pay with PayPal or a credit card. After you purchase the workbook, you will receive an email with a link to your download. The file is 6.6 MB so make sure there is enough space to save it on your device.

Can I give one as a gift?
Yes! If you'd like the workbook to be delivered directly to someone else, enter their email address at checkout.

How do view and write in this workbook digitally?
You'll need the free version of Adobe Reader (or a comparable pdf reader, such as Preview) to view and digitally write in this book.
The workbook can be viewed 1 or 2 pages at a time and you can zoom in and out as needed. All blank sections are fillable. Simply click on the section you want to write in and start typing.

By default, the fillable sections will show up with a light blue highlight. If you want to turn off the highlighting, go to Adobe Reader --> Preferences --> Forms --> and uncheck where it says "show border hover color for fields".  If you change this setting, the fields will remain fillable; it will just remove the blue highlight, which is much more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. :) The blue fields will not appear when you print.

Can I print it?
Yes. Keep in mind the book is very image heavy and will use up a lot of ink! Another option is to just print the worksheets and journal pages.

Are refunds available?
Due to the digital nature of this product, refunds are not available.

Can I share it with others?
I ask that you not share the workbook in its entirety. Honoring this request acknowledges the time, thought, care, and energy that I poured into creating it. You are welcome to share bits of it or to discuss your process with others. This can be a great way of integrating Little Life Rafts into your life.

What if I need help implementing these ideas or want to connect with other people who are using the workbook?
I have lots of ideas about this that are in the works! I wanted to release the workbook first, but I have been dreaming up other complementary offerings for people who need or want to connect with others about this process, and/or need some more support or accountability to implement the ideas. If you want to stay in the loop about future offerings, you can sign up for my email list and/or follow me on instagram.

What if I have a question that isn't answered above?
No problem! Send me an email.
I could use a place to catch my breath
